“Robbing the Poor to Give to the Rich:” More New Era Robin Hood stuff.
There’s no free lunch in B.C. Unless you've got yourself a corporate expense account.
Or you're making $350,000 bucks a year being a totally world class administrator of one of those B.C. hospitals and you're meeting an imported American professional union buster and you're having lunch at Le Crocodil to plan maybe the next set of union jobs to be privatized. Go ahead. The wine's on us too.
But no more free lunch programs for the children attending school in Vancouver’s Inner City schools.
Yes, Vancouver's East end is the most impoverished inner city in the entire country. But your B.C. Liberals and the folks at Gordie Hogg's Ministry of Children and Family Development are cutting $3 million off the province's inner city school programs.
"This funding cut will hurt our most vulnerable students," says Vancouver School Board chair Adrienne Montani.
"It is inexcusable and unacceptable that provincial government cuts will affect children who already face the harsh realities of living in poverty in our inner city neighbourhoods."
NDP MLA Jenny Kwan says the impact of the cuts will be "devastating" and she challenged Liberal MLA's from Vancouver to stand up to Victoria about it. That's the NDP, always the optimists. No Liberal MLA's responded to her challenge.
O say, were those taxcuts to the wealthy not supposed to pay for themselves? Maybe soon.

And just how are YOU contributing, personally, in a NON-PAID capacity, to support these causes and remedy these situations yourself? How about proving your self proclaimed super-intelligence by providing some suggestions as to HOW to remedy the tragic situations depicted in the articles you so eagerly cut and paste here - for a "highly paid sum" I might add...Really Gottcha, if it is public response to pre-written articles you are getting paid for, you're not worth what they're paying you...doesn't seem to me like a job that requires that much intelligence at all. My seven year old could do that. And you are so quick to condescend to us hard working 'simple folk'! If you really want to make yourself useful, tell the rest of us how to get YOUR job! I find it ironic that you can pompously gloat about being '"paid rather hansomely" to go fishing for reaction(s) from the public' through the articles you post in one thread, then immediatley start a new thread focussing on the cut in funding in inner city schools. Now I'm not taking anything away from seriousness of the topic at all. But as our 'intellectual superior', what I would like to see at the end of these articles is suggestions and ideas, in place and taking place, to make things change! Perhaps, instead of collecting a cushy sum from your nameless employers to do a level entry job, you may want to suggest to them that they stop waisting their money and do something proactive rather that reactive. In other words? Put your money where your mouth is. When you start posting about realistic ideas and agendas that could make a difference, and gain some tangeable credibility, you will get the response from the non-intellects of society you are getting paid to reach.

April fool came early ;D You missed it And now that Ive' seen juxtapthe level of intelligence you are capable of, and your post proves it, perhaps you would care to start the ball rolling and I shall follow you lead. You see you are trying to make sense wher no sencse was meant to exist. Get a grip Chillin You have asked some rather pointed questions, thank you! I appriciate that. Itruly do! This province was hi-jacked by a rightwing corporate agenda sand I could "make suggestions untill the cows come home, and to no avail. These forms are the ideal place to have exchanges and to put forth ideas of how to impliment them. Instead they become ego troughs. First suggestion . Take an on-line critcal thinking course here would be agood start: www.ipfw.edu/phil/faculty/Strayer/WhatIsCriticalThinking.ppt. If you or anyone else thinks they can elect one party over the other to mpliment chance they are mistaken Tone of the problems is that working people simply do not have the time at their disposal (Yeah my spelling sucks so what) to get involved at a level necessary to make change or so those I've put it to claim, I gave up on mainstream press yeas ago tee vee offers a hypnotic papLook up and read Jerry Manders "Four arguments for the elimination of telivison" It was written enos ago and prophetic. get to know Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky and others Ive posted about tonight Change come with knowledge and ignorance is only the lavk of knowledge You and I communicate on one of the greatest inventions of all time and yet the prono sites and kook pages get most of the action as does online gambling and frivilous pursuits And yeah i laugh, have fun and actually have aproductive life with socialy active friends who are proactive as well they and we are forming co-ops non profit societies volenteer at the food banks support anti international gansterism disguised as war wher depleted uraniun is rained down on oil rick countries and joe lunch box is held captive to as many as eight partine "jobs" in order to feed his family Read ALL what i post and see where i stand.before you acuses me. For those who took offence, you needn't have , unless you had prior guilt rsvp

OK, I guess I owe you an apology Gottcha. I think some of your posts are long and tedious but sometimes you DO have some informative pieces of information - and hey, this IS an open forum so if we don't want to read your posts, we can skip over them right?! I too am disgusted by the government's decision to take away this social program in one of Canada's most impoverished areas - however, I'm not the least bit surprised. The BC government is incredibly irresponsible, in my opinion and Vancouver has its share of problems as well. I heard somewhere this week that Vancouver has the second highest crime rate per capita in North America, second only to Miami! - And the City bids for the winter Olympics??!!! That is almost as bad as the American space program vs. health care in the US. Can you imagine if Canada blew Trillions of dollars on Mars exploration while people were told that there was no money in the budget for heathcare!! (Mind you, I'm sure we have several similar situations here!). Conspiracy theorist or not, I apologize for jumping on the 'Boo Gottcha' bandwagon!
