While the primary focus of this site is KELOWNA, let's not forget the other towns and regions.
Latest fire related e-mail from: P. G. of Cranbrook who states. "We are also contending with fires and evacuations"

A HUGE thank you to those that stayed in their home to report any fires in the area & confront those pieces of crap that the media calls looters away from their areas. Formally In Hiding In The Hall Rd Area Thank You Roy. MY husband and I were also in hiding, watching for fires and intruders into our neighbourhood. Eventhough our neighbourhood was under evacuation order, there was people on our streets watching the fire. How can one feel safe when intruders can come into an evcacuated area?

Unsure of what the meaning or purpose of the last message was. But, it must mean something. Hopefully, if guests are going to enter messages in this thread, they will be to express support for KELOWNA.
And, with other messages, we should be supporting in spirit other cities and towns, such as Cranbrook!!

Telephone calls and e-mails from Kelowna:
Nice to speak to: Victoria, James, Maureen, and Steve. Also, good to hear from Sandra from Quesnel
Also, the e-mail from Beverley of Kelowna.
As this is likely to be my last post on the support issue, I thank the folks that took the time, this past seven days, to e-mail direct to me from the USA (California and Arizona), England (various counties from Wiltshire to Kent), Australia (Queensland and Perth) and Canada, from Victoria to Ottawa. For the 500 or so visits to this thread, I trust something of value was gained.
But, for me, I will quote song writer and singer PHIL OCHS: "A star is in the sky, and it's time to say goodby."

Although I indicated I was not posting any more messages on this thread, I have to thank Maureen for the telephone call, indicating family is back home but tired.
If any others have heard from returning residents, please feel free to use this thread to recognize them (first names only)!!!

Just received from Colleen in Hawaii, a picture sent by folks living near KELOWNA. Despite, the many pictures in newspapers, this picture was the most graphic of the nature of the inferno across the lake.

TEXTTEXT
In closing, thanks to all for sharing! Also, for those that took part in the poll re volunteers, as thread was titled VOLUNTEERS rather than Volunteer Poll, not many of the many members or guest took part.
Of course, anyone posting a positive message is volunteering time. Therefore, the section concerning other services should have 500 and counting.

TEXTNow that the verbal e-mails of support during August is long gone, I am pleased to report that fund raising efforts have begun, including my own Lions Club, the Royal Oak Lions Club. Our donation of $$$ will be included along with other clubs.
