I am from Kelowna, been here 9 years and love every moment I have lived here!! The past few weeks however were quite an experience I will NEVER forget. I appreciate the strength, courage, and determination that the firefighters and emergency personnel have put forth for this community. However, while driving around town and also in parking lots....there doesn't seem to be many cars with yellow ribbons? Maybe people have other ways of showing appreciaton which is totally acceptable but...this campaign is a whole VALLEY campaign! It doesn't take any time to put a yellow ribbon on your car....or nearest lamp post? Or does it? I donated as much as I posssibly could, i am a college student so it wasn't that much but i dug thru my change purse and the volunteers thanked me so much for my contribution!! I just hope that when i drive around next week there will be more yellow ribbons on the cars out there...our true heros deserve our acknowledgement of their hard effort!!!

Alot of people are asking "Where is all the money going?"
It's a legitimate question as most if not all the burned out families had insurance (and if they chose not to well..they got burned..bad pun but accurate) that will rebuild their homes, recloth them and their kids in the latest duds and fill their new houses with new furniture.
The province and the feds have promised to kick in any shortfalls, Social seervices paid up to 7 days of evacuation expenses, most insurance companies provide a living expense. All the charities have a hat out. But until someone starts saying where the money will go other than to "the fire victims", I won't have a ribbon on my car. Sorry 'bout that.

This is just a quick note to the person that goes under the name of "a little skeptikal". I have been reading a few of the discussions on this forum and I have to say that with regard to the remark you made to some of the people about "having too much time on your hands", i think perhaps you should take your own advice. Your name seems to pop up a little too much around here. Opinions are welcomed but that much negativity at a time when most of the people visiting this sight are those that have lost their homes or at least families of them, seems unsensitive. I agree with most of what your saying, I just dont feel like shouting it from the rooftops.
