Victoria on-line here. Had a trip planned to Alberta & was sweeping the web to keep updated on the Crowsnest fire, then the Kamloop's one started. In the process of searching for info I came across the pics from Silk FM & Kootenay Virtual Tours, so I've pretty much been in the loop since the beginning. I experienced a prairie fire when I was small & knew this thing could really take off! I was very upset with the coverage the BC media gave of the fires at first. It took the big networks getting on the bandwagon to put a boot under the rear of our locals. Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad you now have the coverage & support you need. I cannot describe the feeling I get when reading the notes to the heroic men & women fighting the fires both on the front, support, & volunteer lines. I've desperately wanted to do something & if I didn't think I'd be more in the way than helpful, I'd have scooted my bootie up there. I'm interested to know about particular families who didn't have insurance & have lost everything, can anyone help? I know you can drop off donations to various places but I'm not rich & have stuff that under normal circumstances I'd probably sell, instead I would like to share. I still haven't made my trip & thought the least I can do is drop things off on my way. I know of others who would contribute especially if we had a list of items, sizes, names, etc. Sincerely posted with thanks.

What an incredable human being you are!! You make the day of many who read these threads and find nothing but negatives. It was refreshing to read your comments, and God bless you!!!!!

First off I have to say "wow" and then "Thankyou" Don't kow if this would help you but here is the phone number and address of the Salvation Army - local community church - 1480 Sutherland St Kelowna 250-860-2329, fax line 250-861-3025. They might be able to help you, I know in the past they have helped people who have lost everything in fires, etc. I am not affiliated with them but know several members and the good they have done all over Canada.
