In todays public release, the Regional District of Central Okanagan said... The Regional Board supports the Regional District’s participation in the planning process for restoring the Kettle Valley Railway trestles, destroyed and damaged by the Okanagan Mountain Park forest fire. It adopted a resolution that also says the District will investigate potential local government funding options to help with the costs associated with the project. Both the Federal and Provincial Governments have stated their goal is to have the trestles restored. Contact: Bill Vos 868-5232 Director of Parks and Recreation

Not sure how I feel about this one yet...I certainly can't afford any more taxes) Doesn't matter. If the money comes from the feds, the province or local government, the tax payer foots the bill. They may use existing funds, but that came from us. Hate to sound negative, so on the positive side, it's coudy, and raining! ;D I'm sure a lot of things will get "ugly" soon. Rebuilding, tresles, houses, jobs as I hear some were lost - all sorts of items in the laundry hamper that needs washing, hung out, aired out, ironed out, folded and put neatly away. But, with all disasters, we grow hardend to it and carry on any way. You'll survive it - everyone will - that's what people do and do well. Kelowna is being touted as a comminity with a lot of spirit. Should have seen community spirit here 35 years ago - it was GREAT! We didn't need a disaster to unite Kelowna - it was united, had a great sense of morality, people talked to each and when they said 'have anice day', it wasn't part of the sale closing - they actually mean't it. Maybe, this is what the the population needed - to get to know each other. Sad that it takes a disaster to do it though. On a lighter note - more rain is predicted ;D
