When they built the unsinkable ship, Titanic, they saved a few $$ by using inferior steel. Was this the cause of the disaster or was it the iceberg? The Ombudsman would say "I can't comment on the tactics of shipbuilding but they need to tell the public about icebergs". Is this what we need here? Is Fire Protection unsinkable?

When they built the unsinkable ship, Titanic, they saved a few $$ by using inferior steel. Was this the cause of the disaster or was it the iceberg? I think its both. People need to be just as aware of danger and how to spot it, as well as being trained in how to fight it should they ever have to. If education can make people knowledgable on the dangers of living in interface areas, and if such people make use of that knowledge and plan their homes and yards accordingly, then firefighters can continue to be trained in fighting fires, and together, the ship has a greater chance of staying afloat. How's that for mixing past and present to fit your analogy?

The night of the Firestorm it was past time to evacuate when a woman ran back into her million dollar house, just as smoke started to billow out the windows. A few minutes later she burst out the front door, her arms full of jewelery, furs, and expensive clothes. Choking she ran up to a group of firemen who were very busy trying to save her residence. Hey, she said to the Chief fireman, "Could you guys please hurry-up, my husband is inside!" Guess we all care about something. Good one, Songdove.
