Does anyone know the current status on this fire? When the dispatch came out on the scanner they said it was the size of 4 football fields and rated as a 3. That sounds pretty big to me and I haven't heard anything else about it.

I heard late last night that the fire was contained... but couldn't get any coverage on it from the Vancouver BC news stations... we have sattelite so we don't get CHBC.... anyone confirm that? I also heard they are moving the risk rating back up to high, or was it extreme ? Why not leave it there till the bloody snow falls.....

I'm just waiting for the municipalities to start allowing yard cleanup by burning like they do every year. All ready had one yahoo out here in Winfield complaining that it is his right to burn, maybe same yahoo who dropped the fire hazard. Some people.....

The yahoo in question is an employee of Senator Fitzpatrick, I gather. The incident happened on his orchard in Westbank, and the fire hazard in question? A bird banger. Now, since it is *known* that bird bangers make fires (quote - 'it happens every year') why are they using them in these dry conditions? Why, to save the vineyard from birds, of course. Never mind that the vineyards could get wiped out by a fire caused by the bird bangers. The logic escapes me.
