I just want to thank R.P. for that excellent letter re the bridge and sewer hook-up. Excellent point!
Here's the letter for those who have not read it: ------------------------------------------------------------
Why Should We Pay! I just read what Barrie Clark had to say about the new bridge. The main thing that hit home was this comment, "They're (government) expecting council to pay for the cost of the couplets and if council doesn't agree what happens? I mean, why should we be paying as a city for the infrastructure to join to the highway?" this is kind of how my husband and I felt when we were told we had to pay $7000 to hook up sewer. We didn't want to but we were given no choice. Why should we have to pay for something like that when it is the city's decision to do it. I understand why it had to be done but maybe now someone "higher" up can understand where we "little people" are in regards to having to find this money. Now they can understand. It is about time. -R.P.

Fearnot I agree with you we live in Rutland and are also saddled with this big sewer bill.Mr. Clark is right in the fact that communities in the fraser valley paid nothing for their offramps and couplets because the highway is a federal responsibility.Kelowna politicians have bragged about their rainy day surplus fund for so long that now the goverment wants them to use this instead of recieving financial aid.WHY? communities for example like Vernon-technically broke would never be asked to contribute.Thingby Hawkins shouldn't bad mouth her superiors. A battle of wit's between Thingby and Clark would be interesting except Thingby would be unarmed.
