Am I the only one out here who is having problems recovering funds lost due to the fire? Businesses and others, if you are as frustrated with the whole process of filling out 'one more' application please contact me. I am fed up and planning to do something about it. My life would be much simpler if I could go to one meeting, fill out one application and submit one report. Instead I am put through the process of researching were to go next, filling out numerous applications, and repeatedly told I don't qualify. I was shut down, by evacuation for over a month. The only option I've been given so far is to apply for an interest free loan. A loan to recover my lost profit does not work in my world! I'm tired of the run around and I'm tired of seeing the funds being over lapped as to where they are going! There are huge cracks out there and they want me to fall through one. I don't want to! Anyone interested in getting the numerous groups out there to work together and possibly form a hub group that would look after figuring out who needs the funds instead of each group going of in differant dirctions, contact me please!

the run around. Who have you applied with? I know the forms are horrible. What about contacting the media to find out where they go to find out the info? I know there are quite a few people in many areas falling thru the cracks as many people just don't know where to go.....Good luck and let us know how it goes....

On December 1, the fire recovery centre told me "It's a Summer house, sorry you don't qualified for the $1,000. cheque." I was devastated, they never talked to us before,They had took note when I register, I brought them a letter, never got a replied, how did they came to this decision, they had never seen pictures, never heard our personal stories of our Lifes on Okanagan Mountain, for 7 years we lived on the Mountain all year around, we came back to live in the city because of Family circonstances. This was, my only true Home. I register with the Red cross this week, did not realize I could get help from them, on the same day I wrote they phone me,2 days after, they came to my rental house, we showed them pictures and shared our memories from the mountains. I felt so much compassion and understanding from them and they will help us. I know they are a lot of case for the agency to investigate but All individual should be heard personally. Biggest thanks to you Debbra and Steven from the RED CROSS Marie-France

the so called interest free loan from Community futures is actually interest free for 6 months then paid back at 10% interest. Contact Community Futures Developement Corporation for more info and to see if you Qualify. Yes we've been jumping the hoops too

Yes we've been jumping the hoops too That should never happen. It should be a simple matter of filling a few pages if needed and within max of a week, a cheque issued. I've donated goods and cash and I'm pretty irked that it's not in the hands of the victims yet. This too is a catastrophy.

Hi everybody! Thanks for the comments and encouragement! I've been trying hard lately to focus on work as it is the season to be busy. Focusing is harder than anything I've ever tried to do though. I have had many conversations with people who are involved with the multitude of 'fund handling' groups. My conclusion is that it is past time for these issues to be dealt with. It has been recommended to me by people in government postions, as well as others, to take this to the media. I firmly believe that the idea of one 'hub' group that would look after the information from the people will work. I also believe it should be done by the Government, but I'm not willing to hold my breath on that! So, I'm going to attempt to start it up on my own. If anyone is interested in helping out, or knows someone who has a background that could be benificial, please let me know. I will be contacting the media next week so keep your eyes on the news! Thanks again, Kim

It took time. I honestly open my heart in a letter to the Red cross and then it was read two Friday ago in front of all committees to decide how they can help, and yesterday I was told that we are getting the $1,000. cheque. I also received from the Red Cross money for purchase of furniture. More discussions are to come to see if we can get help to rebuilt our cabin, my true home. We are so fortunate,we were not insured. What a Blessing.
