Well now that we have gome from the sublime to the rediculous, lets return to the sublime, shall we?
In all likilihood The cranster is on to something. Although mythology has for eons spoke of the battle between good and evil perhaps we are here to join one side or the other. Which side are YOU on?
Which Side Are You On? Lyrics Artist(Band):Billy Bragg
This government had an idea And parliament made it law It seems like it's illegal To fight for the union any more
Which side are you on, boys? Which side are you on? Which side are you on, boys? Which side are you on?
We set out to join the picket line For together we cannot fail We got stopped by police at the county line They said, "Go home boys or you're going to jail"
Which side are you on, boys? Which side are you on? Which side are you on, boys? Which side are you on?
It's hard to explain to a crying child Why her Daddy can't go back So the family suffer But it hurts me more To hear a scab say Sod you, Jack
Which side are you on, boys? Which side are you on? Which side are you on, boys Which side are you on?
I'm bound to follow my conscience And do whatever I can But it'll take much more than the union law To knock the fight out of a working man
Which side are you on, boys? Which side are you on? Which side are you on, boys? Which side are you on?
or Arlo's Version Which Side words and music by Arlo Guthrie
There's trouble all around the world Well, it looks that way to me People don't know what to do They don't know where they should be
But just one question still remains To which we must respond Two roads lead from where we are Which side are you on
CHORUS: Are you on, boys Which side are you on Which side are you on, boys Which side are you on
Moses crossed the desert With a band of weary men For forty years they wandered through The hot and burning sand
And Moses went and prayed alone The weary vagabond And lightning wrote these words in stone Which side are you on
CHORUS
Jesus stumbling through the streets On the road to Calvary Nailed high to testify With other local thieves
And as they hung there dying One asked what lay beyond That all depends the master said Which side are you on
CHORUS
Some men work for little things And some men work for more Some men work for anything And some don't work at all
And me mysef I'm satisfied To sing for God's own son And ask you what I ask myself Which side are you on

From the earlier statement - we are molded by our early years, to the changes and experiences. Regardless of the sublime or ridiculous, aren't we all here to serve.
Some focus on serving themselves while others serve family and the community.

How about we ask a question that some might see as directly related to this topic. Do you believe in God? Do you believe in the bible? As we all know there are many "Gods" and many bibles. I for one am not convinced that any are absolutely true. I'm not sure that any of you know either, otherwise would we be asking this question "why are we here?" in the first place?

Well Freya, I see you like to hint and gentley suggest. Nothing straight out and direct, LOL.
I, for one, like the approach you take.
How about we ask a question that some might see as directly related to this topic. Do you believe in God?
Do I believe in God?
That's a biggie!
And I cannot answer in as direct way as the question is asked. I relate to to to-days peots set to musicso baear with me while I submit some of Jimmy Buffets lyrics on the subject. Fruitcakes By: Jimmy Buffett, Amy Lee 1994 --Spoken: "You know I was talking to my friend Desdemona the other day she runs this space station and bake shop down near Boomtown. She told me that human beings are flawed individuals. The cosmic bakers took us out of the oven a little too early. And that's the reason we're as crazy as we are and I believe it."
--Spoken: "Religion! Religion! Oh, there's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Here we go now. Alright, alter boys."
Mea Culpa Mea Culpa Mea Maxima Culpa Mea Culpa Mea Culpa Mea Maxima Culpa
Where's the church, who took the steeple Religion is in the hands of some crazy-ass people Television preachers with bad hair and dimples The god's honest truth is it's not that simple It's the Buddhist in you, it's the Pagan in me It's the Muslim in him, she's Catholic ain't she? It's the born again look its the WASP and the Jew Tell me what's goin on, I ain't gotta clue
Do you believe in the bible?
Yes! AND No! There are words of wisdom to be found within this cobbles and much edited, added to and taken away from book.
I believe when the Mafia hijacked what we now take for granted as the word of God and teachings of Jesus and scooted it out of the holyland and into Rome is a high water mark for manipulation and control.
I further believe we as upright animals on this hunk of dirt hurtleing through space fall more in line wit Jimmy Buttets statement of not having a clue.
Is there some power, some creator? I really don't care i accept stuff as it concerns me
As we all know there are many "Gods" and many bibles. I for one am not convinced that any are absolutely true. I'm not sure that any of you know either, otherwise would we be asking this question "why are we here?" in the first place?
to share a common experience?
thanks for your directness Freya

As for me, I do indeed believe there is a God, a Supreme Being if you like, as for the Bible............ it has been written and re-written by mankind and interpreted by so many different religions, it is difficult for me to actually "believe" in it. I do believe there are important rules for us to live by. Unfortunatly, there are a lot of those that do not, and these ones I refer to are the those that inflict so much harm on the environment, animals, and massacre mankind. They seem to have not a care about their fellow man, and only care about their own "self", the ego, their supreme importance.

the reference is to the leaders of the world that inflict the pain and suffering to their people. These leaders that allow the destruction of our earth, the animals that are disappearing from the face of the earth.
Why God would allow it? And then there are the ordinary people who are either ignorant of, or dont give a damn about others that are suffering every day.

thanks for clearing that up!
>Why God would allow it?
It aint god job to look after us like we were a bunch of kindergarten brats It I OUR job Why do WE allow it?
>And then there are the ordinary people who are either ignorant of, or dont give a damn about others that are suffering every day
this is also true! especially in the case of the latter. so Why we here? well obviously to satisfy our hedonistic ego driven pleasures other wise why would we be pursuing them with such vigor?

>>>>well obviously to satisfy our hedonistic ego driven pleasures other wise why would we be pursuing them with such vigor?
Yes, this is so for the selfish, self centered men, women and children who inhabit this world. There are also those that believe we are here to help, teach and learn from one another. I suppose this could also be viewed as "ego based?"
>>>It aint god job to look after us like we were a bunch of kindergarten brats It I OUR job Why do WE allow it?
I am in total agreement with this statement.
