The question is "Why are we here?" Well its a pretty hard thing to answer, being that there are no certainties or proofs about it all..some say that we all have a meaning..that we were sent here by a greater being whether that be god or aliens or just science itself and evolution we dont know...but people say we have a meaning in life, that we have to find out for ourselves...perhaps that is when we can figure out the answer as to why we are here. Or perhaps we are here for science of someone else...maybe as we do to test subjects, there is some greater beings out there right now conducting an experiment with our own human race...how that is possible we can't explain, why they dont show themselves..that we too can't explain... Life is full of uncertainties..for example faith in god, or evolution or an alien race...some might say we are here to learn...to figure out things for ourselves and grow and adapt until we are finally smart enough to figure out the reason of being here and the origin... So I do not think the answer is why we are here, because there could be no answer to that question for all we know..but there is a question posed that could even further this discussion.."How did we get here?"

Now you have opened a can of worms with a "big bang" That is one theory I have always had trouble with.A super explosion propells just the right amounts of gas, dust ,particles, chemicals etc,at just the right speed and temperature. The right mixture etc,to form earth. Then, the absolutes needed to form life evovle in perfection to create life. Nuts on that. How did we get here!? Divine influence,I believe. After all, what or who made the gas and dust and matter making up the universe?Where did the elements come from to begin the big bang?

In my earlier post I stated "we are here to love and be loved." Before I posted that, I had started typing a response about God, and how I believe that God put us on this planet to serve him. I didn't post that earlier because I figured there would be negative feedback for turning this into a religious post.
But, everybody is entitled to believe what they want to believe. Nobody else's beliefs are any less true than yours or mine just because we don't believe the same thing they believe.
So, I guess we are here for whatever cause each of believes. Personally, I believe I'm here to do whatever it is God has sent me here to do.

Gudonya PJ, Ain't nobodys busines what you believe
We need all the time we got to do gods work in a the manner that suits us. I do mine by bringing to the fore, and especially to those who talk of god being on "our side" ( which thankfully i havent witnessed here) t
This god we so extole is rumored to have created man out of dust. All men Iraqis Orientals, Blacks, Whites! By that reconing we are ALL children of God ALL
But the wilfully ignorant listen to "leaders" wo demonize men in order to expand their own territory. rape the earth, foul it with toxins for profit . You do Gods work your way on your knees i'll do mine my way6 with a voice to honour this jewel in the galaxy give to us by our god

Short, sweet and to the point. Well said.
As well, as previously stated, we all have a voice, and must not be afraid to be honest about our beliefs.

So,what is the answer to the question,Why are we here? Perhaps as was stated,we are so deal with it.Possiably the answer is "bigger" than us.It may be so much our brains would not be able to "grok" it.

We are here to witness the good and bad of today, strive for a better tomorrow, but try to have a little fun while we take our short journey round the circle track.

Received today from a relative in Kelowna an excellent piece re old age and life being like a bank account.
The line I liked from this unknown source was:
Partial or edited quote: SO DEPOSIT LOTS OF HAPPINESS... In old age you can withdraw what you have deposited.
p.s. I hope I havn't "butchered" the tone, mood or theme, but would like to know the name of the author for the "Food For Thought" thread

Butcher! Hack! Shake up, and other wise up end these sugary platitudes and hackneyed phrases.
Why are we here ? We are here to do exactly as we are and will do! How could it be any other way ?
You are here to do as you do, as am I and all others! There are no mysteries, nothing to sovle it is all ment to be ! I end with what some may say is the treacle of al treakles
Max Ehrmann
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
ah! Yes it is a beautiful world indeed ! The birds are singing! Well where birs still exist and have been pulluted out of existance.. there is more what it comes down to is we are here to make God cry at our folly, and a damned fine job we do of it too!
