The "WISDOM IN SHORT SUPPLY" thread is a most intresting piece of "Food For Thought".
Concerning this thread, I will likely summarize my thoughts on the objectives and results of this thread next Sunday.

I see one of the members has started a shadow thread, now that is an eerie thought. Two for the price of one.

Regardless of the vote, it is likely to continue for awhile as there are so many items and issues to touch upon - e.g. nonsence and satire, symbolism and allegory and the grand metaphor!
Regarding the word "nonsence" - it is in fact a positive thing if you consider all of the definitions - but if you restrict yourself to the obvious definitions then it is a silly thing.
Masters of nonsence include every stand-up comedian in the universe today, yesterday and forever through the absurd they often tell an important story - using satire, mimic and other tools of the trade.

In fact, based on its recent start, its safe to say the thread is just at the starting gate. If some members do not want to post or read, it really doesn't matter.

Character is built on various traits that run the gamut from ENTHUSIASM to ENVY.
EMERSON: "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm". There are many types of enthusiasm, and how great is the enthusiasm that one can show for the achievements and works of others?
BACON: " Envy is ever joined with the comparison of a man's self: and where there is no comparison, no envy" and another slice of Francis Bacon on envy: "Envy hath no holidays."
So, the warm glow of enthusiasm for the deeds of others vs the bitter shadow of envy will serve to test our values, courage and worth. One will take us higher and the other will cause our fall into despair and doubt.

We can only guess, but was it the "bitter shadow of envy" that caused the final outrage in the "Deadman's Creek".." story. Sometimes fantasy and reality collide.
Travel to the songs of Australia's Nick Cave and listen to the final outrage in the lyrics of the ballad re "They call me the Wild Rose, but my name was Eliza Day" and compare that to the final outrage in the BC killing of Diane in 1962...To follow the lyrics of the song we hear the words "all beauty must die" as a rock in hand crashes down onto the face of the one named Eliza Day, and the life force of the "WILD ROSE" ebbs away.

See: Important Isuues Thread message re "The Bridge' for reference to "on the Go" publication (Gov't of Canada).
Interesting quote: "It's an all-too common story: neighbours living side-by-side without really knowing each other" (Fall 2004 - issue).

Well as we approach another Christmas, Boxing Day & New Years Day will the use of the word Christmas be a time of peace, love and goodwill to all, or will the tired old debate over the proper usage rear its nasty old face?

The new thread deep thoughts as some promise, but I don't believe it is deep enough.
This one is a fitting deep thought - but a deep thought is just another name for a wet dream! But, this whole thought business is fast becoming a nightmare!

A few interesting comments about this thread are starting to appear in other threads - is this symbolic of other past, present and future events?
