I'm from Richmond Hill, Ontario (just north of Toronto). Thanks for the great coverage, castanet!...and to all who chided the networks for bad coverage...it seems to have worked.

For several days now I have been following events unfold from the Haute-Savoie of France --- in particular watching for news of the effects on friends in Kelowna but also hoping / praying for "the best" for all of you. The www.castanet.net website and this discussion forum have provided a WONDERFUL service to the people of Kelowna during this very difficult time AND also to those of us who are at a distance but with you all in spirit. Although born & raised in Southern Ontario, I have never been to Kelowna, but am starting to feel I know it intimately. Castanet has been the link here --- Thank you.

From Arizona. Local news has covered the story a bit but not really enough. Thank God for Castanet! Grew up in Saskatoon but we had many, many wonderful summer holiday in Kelowna. My family now lives there. I've been in US for 25 years but come back to Kelowna almost every year. Was just there two months ago. I hope this is over soon.
By the way, how do I vote in the poll?

I'm living in Victoria, recently moved here from Kelowna and still have family there. On Sunday I confirmed with my brother that their home was lost in the fire. (Crawford Estates on Canyon Ridge Crescent) The family (of 4) are staying with friends and looking for a rental. Along with everyone else I suppose.
The 'posting time' is off for me too - just about eastern time??)
Good luck to those rebuilding their homes and lives. Great job Castanet with the continued information and these boards.
God Bless.

I am currently in the northern region of BC but I did live in the Okanogan for 20 years. I have great memories of my time there and I hope to move back in the near future. My heart goes out to all of those who have lost homes and evacuees awaiting an uncertain future. I was a firefighter for 11 years and cannot fathom the devestation that this fire has caused. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Past Kelowna resident now living on Vancouver Island, but my son and daughter still live in Kelowna. My son's home in Mission Hills was burned out last Friday night, and my daughter and family (Lower Mission) is still on evacuation.
Castanet.net is still the only place I can get reliable, up-to-date news. Thank you so much for this website!

I'm watching the fire closely from Seoul, South Korea. My husband-to-be's home town is Kelowna, and our wedding is scheduled in the fire zone the second week of September.
Thank you and hats off to Castanet. If it wasn't for you I would have been in the dark about the fires. Your regular updates have been invaluable.
My thoughts are with all those people, especially the children, who have lost their homes in the fires. And to the firefighters.
Praying for rain.

I think that if you are a member, you can click the member icon at the top, and there will be an option to adjust your time zone. I.E. for PST residents, enter "-3", to move the clock back three hours. Sorry for the trouble

Since last week, I've been a visitor the the castanet.net site many times each day. I live in Minnesota. My husband and I own property in Kelowna, and hope to use it as a vacation home during our retirement. Our property is currently in the evacuation zone.
The coverage here is wonderful regarding the fire. I have been so impressed by how people are working together to survive this fire. My husband and I are hoping to get up there this fall to see what's happened to your beautiful city.

I'm from Montreal, but have a sister who lives in Kelowna. Her house used to be on Okaview ... I appreciate the pictures and the maps because it really gives us an idea of the situation... Thanks...
