I was from Qualicum Beach BC (18 years) up until June/02 when I returned back to Thunder Bay, Ontario. My son is on the Island(north) and is fighting the fires on the mainland.

I'm a former Kelowna resident and I'm now living in New Zealand and thanks to castanet we have been able to keep up with the fire news and make sure our friends there are OK. I also know of a former kelowna resident in Australia using Castanet to keep up to date.

Hi I am from Regina. Folks are in Kelowna. Castanet was my only way to get info for the most part. Local coverage was not bad, but not many details. We all know about the National news Happy to have had this connection as I did not want to tie up phone lines. Thanks for starting it!

I was born in Kelowna. Was there Thurs Fri and saw the fire from the Westside. Live in Calgary AB currently. My heart goes out to all who are suffering because of the fire.

We live in Langley, but we are born and bred in Kelowna (my husband and I).
My inlaw's lost their house on Curlew, so we are really in a state of shock.
Your website certainly helped when we couldn't talk to them.

I am from Hope , I have friends in Kelowna. I have been finding your site very informative and I really like hearing from the People of Kelowna instead of just the media. It was really great on Friday ! You really helped get the most recent news out. Fear is often caused by ignorance. I like to know what is really going on and I found lots of light and hope coming from those who were sharing their thoughts then and now.

I was born and raised in Kelowna, but have been living in Vancouver/Richmond for the past 10 years. A friend of mine lived at 1297 Mission Ridge waaaaaaaaaaay back in '91... but he moved from their shortly after that. It was always such a beautiful area though. I do still have a lot of family (including my parents) and friends still in Kelowna though, and go there several times a year to visit. I had to cancel my latest trip which was planned for the 23rd. My heart goes out to everyone in Kelowna, especially those who have lost their homes. Shannon

Well, I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, but 3 years ago I moved to Kelowna and lived there for 2 years, then moved to Chilliwack for one year and 3 days before that actual one year anniversary, I'm moving back to Kelowna. I miss that town and everyone in it dearly, it's the place I will always call home.
