Thank you SO much for providing us with this web site. I'm a fourth generation Peachlander who is presently living in Airdrie, Alberta .. and have been wanting to be with my father in Peachland and sister in Westbank so badly ...
I just can't imagine the heartache everyone has gone through but I know the tears come pretty quickly when viewing the pictures and hearing the emotion. Castanet has been a lifeline for me to try and keep up on the latest ... especially when the phone lines were of course tied up with emergency matters - I can't tell you how comforting it was to have an up-to-date site to refer to.
Thanks so much again ... not enough good things can be said about the fire fighters, RCMP, emergency workers of all kinds ... and of course Castanet for providing an excellent news site for worried relatives and friends to visit.
Best to you all in the Okanagan and wishing I were there to help out in some way!
Former Peach Linda

I am from Kelowna but currently live in Calgary. My parents were part of the mass evacuation so I had to keep up to date that weekend. Thanks for this forum!! And to Castanet for the great coverage!

I'm in Oxfordshire. That's UK. I'm interested as my wife's parents live on the other side of Kelowna to the fire, and we want to know they're OK! I've visited the valley twice (so far). Also I'm a fan of the Martin Mars.
Incidentally, I'm Australian, married to a Canadian, living in the UK. So we tend to be more interested in elsewhere than 'here'! I'm interested to the differences and similarities between the 'wildfires' in Canada and my own homegrown 'bushfires' in Aus. NB The UK don't burn - too soggy.
If anyone's got GOOD pics of the Mars in action, I'd love copies - e-mail me at JKightly@yahoo.com.au TIA James

Forgive me if this posts twice... Somehow the pc kicked me off adding a smiley so I'll do it the old fashioned way :-D
I'm one of the 5% from the US and saying hello from NY State. I have lived a lot of places but my home province is BC, and my particularly favourite spot is Kelowna (....and Mission Hills)
A NY friend that recently returned from near the OK area commented to me that it was "beautiful" and "canadians are so relaxed" He never got to see you fight a fire!
You are and were, amazing!

I'm from Red Deer, Alberta. I found Castanet's site while searching for news on the Kelowna fires and have been checking it daily every since. What an excellent job you Castanet folks are doing! I've been very concerned about my friends in Kelowna, and naturally everybody who lives there. I can't imagine what you've gone through. Be strong! This WILL come to an end!
