Hi, I am from Germany and had a wonderful vacation in B.C. in August, cycling the length of the KVR from Merritt to Midway and the C&W RR to Castlegar. When I see the fire maps of Myra Canyon I can't help but cry. I rolled across those trestles on August 20, just one day before they were closed for travel.

Nova Scotia. Have been using the Castanet site since Aug. 22 but just looked at Discussion now. Have been to K several times & have immediate family in OK Valley. The photo gallery has been great. I am thinking about you people most of the time. The reports right now on another Thread are heart-rending.

I live south of the border near Tonasket WA. I have watched the valley here fill with smoke and then see it leave and then return again. I pray for your residents safety and also those who are working on the fire fighting efforts. May God grant you the strength to accomplish all that needs to be done now and in the future.

From the Fraser valley. Great site. I have also noticed the time disparity. Unless Kelowna has somehow moved out of B.C. the time difference is showing as 3 hours. Have relatives in the Joe Rich area. We recieved a little rain down here, hope it makes it your way.

I am from Cranbrook BC - home of the Lamb Creek Fire (and close to the PlumbBob fire). TODAY IT IS RAINING HARD!!! Never thought I'd see the day when I prayed for rain - for lots of rain. Like days and days please! Finally we are getting some moisture. It broke my heart over the past few weeks looking at the pix of the Okanagan Mountain Fire but I never really fully appreciated the pix of the fires burning in the distance until I saw the flames cresting the mountain ridge here one night. Scary Thanks to the hard working fire fighters from all over BC and Canada and the States. We have only a couple hundred people were actually evac'd (so far) and under a thousand people put on 1 hour evac notice. Nothing like Kelowna has been dealt but even one is too many. Yellow Ribbons are beginning to show up around the trees in the parks here and tied to cars. Signs of encouragement for the firefighters are becoming more prevalent as well. We will keep this campaign going.

Hi Out there in B.C.. I,m from Estevan Sask. Interesting enough we have a haze here in our atmosphere from the smoke that is coming over the mountains. We have had no Rain in over a month so the smoke doesn't clear. Our sunsets which are already beautiful are now spectacular with the crimson or orange sun setting in the west. My family feels very sad for the many houses that have been destroyed by the fire. But it is just a building and it is the people in the house that make it a home. God bless you all

I live in Prince George. My parents live in Kelowna, and I have been checking this web site every day to see how things are for them, and for the community. Thank you for your excellent coverage. I will be visiting Kelowna in a couple of days. As a past resident, I'm not sure I want to see the devastation, but I do want to see my parents and make sure all is well for them.
